International Ride To Work day: 21 June 2010

Across Canada MCC, the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada, will once again sponsor International Ride-to-Work Day (RTW). Held annually on the third Monday of June, RTW focuses attention to the benefits inherent in using a motorcycle as transportation - less impact on infrastructure; less parking space needed, less fuel used, less pollution and MORE FUN!

RTW is looking for all riders to participate, and is looking for champions in every city and town to champion RTW this year. Visit www.ridetowork.ca for details.

Summerfest - don't miss it.

BMW Motorrad Summerfest 2010: Mosport Park 9-11 July

This will be the fourth running of this fun, growing event. Once again, Summerfest is held along with the Parts Canada Superbike double-header weekend. The world-class Mosport race track will be alive with practice and racing all weekend. The highlight will of course be the Superbike races where the BMW Canada factory team will be entered on the new S1000RR. The S1000 will be ridden by experienced BMW racer Mike Ferrara and past Canadian Superbike Champion Francis Martin.

Off-track at Mosport park there will be lots of activities. World Champion stunt rider Chris Pfeiffer will perform on his BMW F800R - truly a mind-boggling experience. A party on Saturday evening will feature live music by Canadian performers. BMW Canada will be on hand to run off-road and on-road demonstration rides. The BMW Marketplace will also be there with product displays, branded apparel and clearance items.

Come for the day or stay for the weekend. Choose from on-site camping, RVing, or off-site B&B and hotel accomodations.

Summerfest tickets will be available at Wolf BMW or on-line by visiting bmw-motorrad.ca. $50 includes admission to the track for all three days and camping (a $90 value) along with entry to the Summerfest events.

Wolf BMW Advanced Rider Training

2008 school photo There’s nothing quite like being good at what you’re doing to make it more fun, and practice and training is a good way to get there. At Wolf BMW, we have been offering rider training to our customers for many years. We rent a race track for our exclusive use for the day, provide instruction, lunch, and emergency medical personnel on standby. These are street-riding schools, designed to give the opportunity to develop riding skills and reflexes in a safe environment. There is plenty of track time for all and no pressure to ride above your limits - quite the opposite in fact. Equally important, the other riders on the track are also there to learn and have fun. Those who have attended an "open track day" may appreciate the distinction here: we ride in small groups guided by the instructors, working on specific skills and building speed as the day goes on and riders become more comfortable with the pace and their bikes. As a result, we avoid the hazards involved in sharing the track with people who may be riding over their heads.

For 2010 we are running two schools, using both Shannonville's famous Nelson circuit and the Challenging Fabi track. Shannonville's multiple track layouts are fun and safe with good visibility and abundant run-off. Shannonville provides ideal conditions for rider training and is justifiably known as "the birthplace of champions".

Monday 7 June: Nelson circuit
Monday 26 July: Fabi circuit - NEW Master's course for returning ART grads.

These schools are offered on a not-for-profit basis as a service to our customers (and for fun!), but other BMW riders are welcome if space is available. Just $250; early-bird booking price of only $225 if you pay before 31 April.
